Choi Wan Preview Lunch

We were treated to a gorgeous press and influencer launch on Tuesday 8th April, to celebrate the announcement of the newest addition to House Of Social, Choi Wan, by the obscenely talented Victor Yu. As long-term fans of Victor and his flagship venue, Yu & Yu up in Copster Green, this was one that we were truly looking forward to experiencing, and it was more than worth the wait. 

Choi Wan will be a modern take on traditional Hong Kong Cuisine, inspired by recipes passed through his family. Victor, together with Executive Chef Bruno (ex Chef at Michelin-starred Northcote and The Samling) has created something truly special, drawing from traditions, family recipes, and the flavours Victor grew up with. 

The menu will feature Victor’s fathers famous curry sauce, a recipe learned at his elbow and refined over the years. Bruno brings his culinary expertise into the mix, focusing on top-quality ingredients, some that aren’t typically found in street food, delivering exciting flavours that elevate the experience.  

Dishes include Chicken Bamboo, which has been part of their history for over 30 years, and re-imagined classics like their delicious Prawn Toast Crumpet and a Chinese take on a full rotisserie Chicken - perfect for sharing.

Victor describes the menu as “Cantonese street food on steroids - huge, bold flavours and lots of surprises. It’s going to be a lot of fun, full of energy, and we can’t wait to share it with you all!”

Choi Wan is the latest announcement from the new food hall House Of Social. Led by Ex Mackie Mayor’s Jake Atkinson, the project is emerging as a supergroup of the best operators across the country with confirmed outlets from local heroes Mughli and national burger sensation, Burger and Beyond.
