An award-winning restaurant brand will be opening its doors on Friday 27th June at The Courthouse, Deansgate, Manchester giving foodies the chance to try the very best in fresh handmade burgers. Handmade burger Co. are famous for burgers which are handmade in their restaurants every day from traditionally reared, grass fed, 100% fully traceable prime Scotch beef.
Their chefs make over 40 varieties of handmade and hand pressed burgers and as each burger is made by hand, you can tailor your burger with a range of toppings to have it just like you want it.

The menu also has a wide selection of delicious chicken and vegetarian options and boasts an exclusive Jimmy Doherty’s Farm, rare-breed beef range. They have a great menu choice for children too, all made from the freshest and finest ingredients.

Chris said, “I am delighted to be opening our twentieth restaurant, and our first in Manchester, at The Courthouse, Deansgate. I can’t wait to find out what the fabulous people of Manchester think of our new restaurant. Our teams pride themselves on delivering quality food, great service and hospitality. Rosso Rosso
We attended a wonderful evening at Rosso who presented “Prosecco By Night”. Being fans of the all things bubbly, naturally we were more than happy to try out five different glasses of Prosecco and judge each one.

Peter Dushko, who ran the evening, had a tough job on his hands persuading us that his favourite drink wasn’t a “poor man’s champagne”, although over the last three years, Prosecco has been growing some 40% year on year volume in the UK market so clearly people like it. But would we ?....[click here for to read the full review]

Lowry Lowry
Lowry
It's fair to say that a lot is going on if you head to The Quays these days. Gone is the name 'Salford Quays', and up has popped an endless array of new places to eat, drink and be entertained, mainly since the arrival of MediaCityUK and the influx of new punters which said arrival has generated. Why the powers that be chose to name every destination in Salford as 'The Lowry' is beyond me. Sure, LS is a legendary artist, but a shopping centre, theatre, hotel and art gallery, all named after one person? He clearly has plenty of fans. Would we be fans of the theatre based restaurant though?

Now a theatre isn’t a venue which you might consider for a quality restaurant dinner, unless of course you're actually planning on attending a show at said theatre? Even then, we usually opt for a bag of Minstrels and bottle of soft drink, to smuggle into the show whilst trying not to irritate those sat around us with some constant mid-show bag rustling.

The menu may appear to be a touch limited in choice at first glance, along with several garnishes and accompaniments to a few of the dishes, popping up in other dishes. This is no doubt to compact preparation for the kitchen. However, when you consider the size of the kitchen, that only 4 chefs service said kitchen, and that the restaurant houses around 150 covers, many of which will arrive within a 30 minute window of each other in order to coincide with shows kicking off, then the service standards coming from the kitchen and waiting staff are truly remarkable....[click here to read full review]

Thaikhun Thaikhun
Thaikhun
The Avenue in Spinningfields has a new restaurant. Nestled in prime real estate amongst the city's top retail outlets, the latest Thai food sensation in the city has landed in the form of Thaikhun.
Last night saw the launch party of the new venture which is operated by popular Thai stalwart Chaophraya, offering a more casual concept than its relative via an informal street food inspired menu. Added to this are quality drinks, and uber-cool décor touches, inspired by Thai street market stalls, complemented with some more modern twists. We've never seen so many Edison light bulbs in a single room before! Owner of the restaurant; Martin Stead joked 'There's not too many restaurants which have their own dance troupe of ladyboys'.
As an added bonus ahead of Summer-time, the al-fresco area to the front of the property is embellished with a cool 'Tuk Tuk' scooter, and allows customers to enjoy their experience in glamorous surroundings, watching the world go by over a drink, some nibbles, or a complete meal. Thai-dy stuff we say!

Turtle Bay - Manchester Room - Manchester
Turtle Bay; the Bristol based Caribbean bar/restaurant has come to Manchester following a lavish launch event yesterday evening. Located in the former Alibi unit on Oxford Street. Around £1 million has been invested into the venture, with authentic feeling Caribbean décor setting the scene beautifully. Local VIPs and celebrities including Shayne Ward and the cast of Corry were on hand to join the party. Live reggae bands provided the entertainment, whilst the crowd and staff all joined in with the party vibe until well the night.
Turtle Bay offers a cascade of lively food and drink from Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad, including beers, cocktails, jerk chicken, patties, and other spicy Caribbean treats. It’s a niche which has yet to be truly exploited in Manchester, and based on our spicy samples last night, a niche which will be well and truly filled before very long.
The management team explained to us how excited they are to get things started, meet new customers and make new friends, not to mention being incredibly enthusiastic about the food and drink offerings. Head Chef Colin Scott stated that the menu will be heavily authentic, with European twists along the way. Chicken wings, salt fish, patties, spicy prawns and succulent ribs all went down a treat with the crowd, who also enjoyed the genuine Caribbean bar offerings including staple such as Red Stripe beer, the lethally delicious Wray and Nephew over-proof rum, and one of our personal favourites; Koko Kanu premium coconut rum.
Based on the party atmosphere from last night's bash, it looks like Manchester has a new destination. Turtle Bay opened on Friday May 30th.
