Mad Wae It

2nd Jul 2019

There's some good news amongst the recent restaurant closures, as renowned Scottish-Italian chef, Nico Simeone, is set to introduce his Glasgow dining concept to Manchester this July when he opens Six by Nico in the ill fated Roc & Rye unit, just off Spring Gardens.

Not to be mistaken with 3 Michelin Star Greek chef Nico Ladenis, whose Nico Central graced the city back in the 1990s, Six by Nico Manchester will be the fourth addition to his growing restaurant portfolio, with award-winning venues including 111 by Nico and Six by Nico already well embedded in Scotland and Northern Ireland’s restaurant scene.

The 66-cover restaurant will replicate the Six by Nico restaurants in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast, and will be Nico Simeone’s first venture in England, with plans to expand the brand further across the UK in the pipeline.

Promising "a new restaurant every six weeks" with a constantly evolving menu, rotating every six weeks, Nico and his team will re-invent the dining experience – serving a brand new six-course tasting-menu themed upon a different place, memory or idea; such as the street markets of the Middle East to a journey across Route 66 in America - taking guests on a completely new epicurean adventure each time they visit.

Roc & Rye's beautiful interior will make way for a minimal design, starkly contrasted by grand fixtures and fittings with atmospheric mood lighting and a modern design open kitchen on view to all.

Possibly unaware of the tough trading conditions at the moment, the Glaswegian chef said, "We are very excited to bring an unforgettable culinary experience to Manchester. It was the obvious choice when looking for our first site in England thanks to its thriving food and drink scene.

“We have been overwhelmed by the success and the appeal of our first 'Six by Nico' sites in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast, and we couldn't be more delighted about bringing a completely new offering and dining experience to the people of Manchester".

The restaurant opens on July 15th with the first menu in Manchester themed around "The Chippie Tea", including the Glaswegian speciality, deep fried Mars Bar.
