LoT Menu Launch
Restaurants Of Manchester (Thursday 8th August 2024)

LoT - Menu LoT - Sesame & Black Pepper Crispy Chicken Skin
Lamb of Tartary just off Piccadilly Gardens has received a rebrand and concept change from its former pub inspired direction, so has now become simply 'LoT'.

Any kitchen driven by Shaun Moffat will inevitably produce food with bags of flavour, and his latest venture is no different.  But the new menu at LOT diverts from the styles which we've previously seen from Shaun, not only in Manchester but down in London too.

 Ahead of launch, we were told to expect dishes influenced by the Silk Route, so a strong use of spices and more exotic seasonings.  It's always great to see a talented Chef branching out from their comfort zone and still delivering something delicious.  We were invited in for the press preview, and couldn’t pass based on our general high praise of Shaun and LOT's previous iteration.

LoT - Indo-Chinese Lemon Chicken Thighs LoT - Lightly Cured Stone Bass
On the evening, we sampled too many dishes to list, with these being our top picks;

Sesame & Black Pepper Crispy Chicken Skin was the perfect snack.  Super crispy with a salty hit, accented by some sesame driven nuttiness. Simple, but a great start.

Indo-Chinese Lemon Chicken Thighs were a sensation.  Juicy chicken which had been lovingly brined for extra moisture and thorough seasoning, lifted to another level via a zingy lemon and chilli dressing.  Delicious.

LoT - Tempura Purple Tenderstem LoT - Jaffa Cake Doughnuts
Lightly Cured Stone Bass brought a fresh addition to our evening's choices.  Well cured bass with the perfect meaty yet soft texture, with strawberry and ponzu to give the plate a sweet and savoury element.  Simple yet well measured.

Tempura Purple Tenderstem was our veggie of choice.   Cooked to perfection in a textbook tempura batter.  Pink peppercorn ricotta and black sesame was a stunning garnish on this plate.  Without question, this was one of the best dishes of the evening.

Jaffa Cake Doughnuts brought the night to an indulgent close.  As light as air, with a textural note from nuggets of Chocolate Dukka, with and saffron orange marmalade to complete the flavour profile.

LoT - Gimlet LoT - Green
Everything was absolutely as delicious as it sounds.  It's worth mentioning that on top of the a la carte menu which we explored on the night, there's also a great looking bottomless brunch menu priced at just £35, and a Sunday Lunch offering too.

So, LOT is another dining room to add to your list of must try places in the city centre.  The venue is still a great looking space, the food is as delicious and generous as we've all come to expect from Shaun, and above all else it offers something different to Manchester market.

** Our experience was gratefully comped **
