| | | | Bluu Manchester Northern Quarter - reader comments | "We ate at Bluu during lunchtime, and there were only a few other people still eating. I had 2 courses, Chicken Liver Parfait to start and Steamed Salmon for the main course. When my starter came, it did so without bread at first but, to be honest, I was only able to eat about a tenth of the parfait. It was an extremely strong taste, far too strong for my liking, and the consistency and texture of it was somewhat questionable. The main meal again was full of very strong flavours. With the mussel chouder and the Parmesan mash, the poor little salmon was drowned rather, but the main course was a great improvement on the starter. The fish was cooked very well. Overall, I enjoyed the surroundings, Bluu is a nicely designed establishment, but the food I sampled is suitable only for those not afraid of very bold flavours" - paul, bolton 18/11/08 (visited on a monday lunch) |
| "The menu at Bluu consisted of modern British classics with a good choice of both starters and mains. We opted for the salmon with bacon and potato salad and Mrs Kirkhams Lancashire cheese souffle. They were slightly average but the mains faired better. The chicken with a cider based sauce was great and came with bubble and squeak cakes. My partner had the Lancashire hot pot which he really enjoyed. Bluu has a nice retro feel with friendly staff. Not much of an atmosphere for a Thursday night even though the bar area was busy. I do hate the fact you have to trek through the bar and downstairs to get to the toilets but it's not the sort of thing that would stop me from going back. Check out the cocktail menu for an alternative to a pudding. Very nice" - clare, ashton-under-lyne 26/2/08 (visited on a thursday evenng) |
