 | | | | | The Rice Bowl Chinese Restaurant Manchester - reader comments | "Although I've heard some great reviews about the Rice Bowl, it didn't really hit all the right notes for myself. The food was just about right really, nothing mindblowing, and left me wanting more. I'd suggest to go to this place if you're in a rush, as the food was served incredibly quick and served with a smile. Maybe I just caught the restaurant on a bad day, and with all the good reviews in the past, I will definitely give The Rice Bowl another chance to impress." - Danny Bowen, Manchester - Trusted Reviewer (3/7/09 - visited on a monday evening) |

| | "We've been going to The Rice Bowl for some time now and never left disappointed. Great service and friendly staff, great food and great prices, really affordable! All smiles from the staff and they really take great care of you without being 'too much'. The food they serve is of high quality and when you receive the bill you are left wondering if they have left something out, but no, its just really affordable - great value for money." - Rune Thomsen, Norway - NEW MEMBER (6/4/09 - visited on a saturday evening) |

| "I couldn't find fault with the afternoon service. The lunch menu is served from 12pm to 5pm and you will be served in mega quick time (20 mins for two of us from the moment we sat down to paying the bill). The staff obviously realise that some people may have to get back to work, hence the quick service, although you will not be made to feel like you need to eat up quickly as we could have ordered more drinks if we wanted to.
The decor, background music and menu was all typical Chinese which I especially liked. The food arrived incredibly quick. The Sai Chai chicken wasn't too spicy either, so if you prefer something on the hot side, go to Chaophraya around the corner.
The quality of food was excellent, although the main dish could have been slightly larger in size, especially as we had plenty of rice left over. Both a bowl and a plate were provided with the servings, allowing the option to eat the dishes as you preferred. In a similar mode, each place was set with chopsticks as well as a knife and fork, allowing the customer to choose to eat the Chinese way or the English way (plowing the food down) and switch between the two if necessary.
Receiving a slice of melon and orange (on the house) was an extra bonus to cool down the taste buds. For less than £20 for two of us, this was very good value for money indeed! We'll certainly be returning to the Rice Bowl for another meal!" - rob, restaurants of manchester 5/3/08 (visited on a weds afternoon) |
