Green Tea Chinese Restaurant Didsbury - our review

Trusted Reviewer "It has to be said, after reading a review on a website that has a rather dodgy reputation for heavily criticising restaurants who don't cough up extortinate amounts to advertise, we weren't sure what to expect with Green Tea. As it turned out, we were pleasantly surprised and it's not hard to see why this tiny little independent restaurant has built an ever-growing loyal customer base, which is said to include Coronation Street actors - not that we'd trust them to be restaurant critics, of course.

The choice of dishes, as is often the case in Chinese restaurants, was so great it was hard to choose just one dish, so we opted for the advice of the friendly owner-cum-waitress and plumped for the suggested North East China specialities of Chicken in a leek, spring onion and specially-imported Yellow Bean sauce (£7.50) and the Crispy Shredded Chilli Beef (£7.80), which were both excellent. The Fried Soft Noodles with Bean Sprouts (£3.80) came free from the grease that we're so used to experiencing, whilst the unusual Sizzling Baby Potatoes in Soy Bean & Black Pepper Sauce (£8.50) were delicious if somewhat hot and overpriced.

Of all the Chinese restaurants in and around Manchester that we've visited, the Green Tea Restaurant is up there as one of the best, oozing with character typified by the simple Oriental decor, which gives a homely feel that is so reminiscent of the West Didsbury independent restaurant scene. We would most certainly return." ~ restaurants of manchester 15/10/08 (visited on a wednesday lunch)
