East Z East Restaurant Manchester - reader comments

"My favourite Indian restaurant in Manchester! The food and service is great, good location and it has a nice modern look. The only downside is that it's quite small so you may end up waiting a bit before you get a table. Not a big problem though as you're met in the door and offered to get a drink from the bar to shorten the wait. If you don't like the wait, don't go there on a Saturday evening! Personally I ignore it as the food is magnificent, the staff are friendly and the prices are low - great value!" - Rune Thomsen, Norway - NEW MEMBER (6/4/09 - visited on a Saturday evening)

"We saw EastZEast in an Italian magazine, saying that it was one of the best in Manchester. Even though we did not try a lot of restaurants, we can surely say that we enjoyed the meal and the location. The service was good, we did not wait too much and the food was excellent! We would recommend it to anyone." - barbara, bologna, italy 28/1/09 (visited on a tues eve)

"My boyfriend took me here to propose! We were asked to finish our wine in the reception area as it was very busy - this then rushed my boyfriend into 'popping' the question quicker than anticpated! Ha Ha! The restaurant congratulated us and we both received complimentary drinks!" - karen rothwell, bolton 26/9/08 (visited on a fri eve)

"I was given an overfired dish and told that it is 'what you ordered'" - upender mehra, manchester 24/8/08 (visited on a thu eve)

"Excellent service, excellent food and great value. It is clearly a popular place to eat, as there was a queue going out the door all the time I was there, but they seemed to be very efficient in seeing to everyone's needs. Possibly the best Indian food I have ever tasted!" - emma morum, feltham 9/5/08 (visited on a weds evening)

"I took my girlfriend on Valentines Day, we didn't book and arrived around 9pm. We were given a free glass of champagne on arrival which really made a difference and started our evening off well! We were seated within around 30 mins of arriving. The food was awesome, just perfect. I was not sure what to order and the waiter helped me choose the perfect dish. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, by far the best curry I have ever had. The waiters were very attentive and looked after us all night. My girlfriend was handed a red rose with the bill which was a really nice touch. We normally go to Rushholme for our curry's but not any more! By far the best curry in Manchester!" - chris mcbride, manchester 14/2/08 (visited on valentine's night)

Trusted Reviewer "Overall, very impressed, although they had some weird lighting going on which every 10 minutes or so changed the whole restaurant from green to red to blue - probably could have done without this. Tables were also a little too close together meaning on a very busy night (which it was) conversation levels had to rise - along with everyone else's!! Top notch." - Jim Chadwick, Manchester 18/4/07 (visited on a Sunday evening)

Trusted Reviewer "Superb restaurant if somewhat cramped and noisy - food as good as any Indian in the region and the service, from the welcoming 'greeter' in traditional dress at the door to the friendly and efficient waiters, is fantastic. The prices are relatively steep, around £10 for a main course + £3 for pilau rice and £3 for a huge naan bread. Kingfsher beers were also expensive at £3 for a small bottle. Even the papadom's, whch I spent most of the evening trying to clear from the inside of my teeth, will set you back a whopping £4 for 2. I guess good food has it's price although that said, it didn't seem to put the students off as there was many in here. Maybe they were attracted by the crazy lights - one minute you're in subtle lighting, the next in a brothel like red glow and then a bright sunbed blue - it's hard to see what you're eating." - Matthew, Manchester 8/4/07 (visited on Easter Sunday evening)
