| | | | Darbar Indian Restaurant Manchester - reader comments | "The staff at Darbar were very friendly and made you feel very welcome. They spoke good English and had a laugh with you. I was given a free rose from the man who comes in, compliments of the staff. All my food was lovely apart from my Onion Bahgee starter, which was a bit tasteless and dry. Apart from that, it was nice. We also got a 10% discount." - Claire Louise Anderson, Hyde 3/3/09 (visited on a friday evening - NEW MEMBER) |
| "I left Darbar curry house feeling upset and ripped off. Our waiter was loud, abusive and rude. When we mentioned that we thought it was unreasonable to pay £1 per poppadom (£6 for six poppadoms), which we didn't even ask for, he got aggressive and verbally abusive. We payed the bill and left but I never wish to return." - Kelly Jones, Manchester 7/2/09 (visited on a friday evening) |
| "Darbar was very expensive for the amount of food recieved, however the food was fresh and nice. They just need to sort the price out. We paid £70 for 4 to dine out, including 3 beers and 2 mixers. I need a little more value than this especialy with the current economical situation. Also I was offered 15% off at the door. This was never taken off even when challenged" - Matt, Cheshire 25/1/09 (visited on a saturday evening) |
| "I have heard so much about the curry mile and, as my wife and I had just been to the Apollo Theatre, we planned to give it a try. We assumed each restaurant was of the same quality, so we picked Darbar. My wife and I have been in many Indian reasturants as far as Goa, and this was amongst the worst. The popadoms where OK but the chutny that came with it was very bland with no lime pickle. The main came, and again, was lacking in variety of spice flavour. The chiken sag was not cooked with fresh spinich and tasted no better than a ready made meal from a supermarket, nothing special. The byriani was a total let down, it was just rice fried with plain chiken, no spice at all. The pilau rice was just rice, not one spice, nothing, not even one grain of fennel. I am sorry but I could have cooked better myself. The choice of beers was a let down as well, just Cobra. The whole experience was an utter and complete let down. We left the place not feeling full, but disillusioned" - Tony, Liverpool 22/12/08 (visited on a Sunday evening) |
