"Turning up at 8pm without a reservation on a Friday night
to Zinc, we thought we'd have to wait. But we were shown directly
to a table. There were plenty people at the bar, and quite
a few eating, but the atmosphere was just right. We chose
the Mezze Starter to share (£11.60), and it was excellent.
Nice olives, Hummus, great flat bread and a good yogurt dip.
For mains, I chose the Rib Eye Steak, cooked rare (£16.50).
My girlfriend chose the Tandoori Sea Bass (£15.75).
Both were cooked to perfection. The only gripe was
that the sea bass had quite a lot of bones in one of the fillets.
We told the waiter, and he gave us our sides of chips (£3)
and mixed salad (£3) for free which was brilliant. Overall,
I would recommend Zinc to all. I know it's a little bit
more pricey, but the quality of the cooking is excellent.
And the Bearnaise sauce out of this world" -

| "This place is great and buzzing. There was a nice cosmopolitan mix of people in there when we were in and it was very upbeat. The food was great. I opted for the Steak & Chips but my friend's chose the Thai Baked Seabass in Banana Skin and the Malayan Chicken which were also superb. We loved watching everything that was happening on the other tables around us and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. I would encourage anyone to pay a visit here." - Billy, Cheshire 13/1/09 (visited on a saturday evening) |
| "I booked for a group of 10 and was not told when booking that we had to order from a limited menu, which had 3/4 mains and starters to choose from. We explained this was unacceptable and they eventually 'let' us order from the main menu. We were also seated in an annex with no other customers in so it really lacked atmosphere. Food was OK but definitely nothing special and you couldn't help but feel they thought we were being awkward. My sea bass was nice but other meals looked very disappointing. I have been twice now and will only return under duress as there are far better restaurants in Manchester" - Catherine Akin, Manchester 30/9/08 (visited on a Saturday evening) |

| "I had not eaten in Zinc for years, as it is somewhere I always forget exists. I think it might be owned by the people that run Restaurant Bar & Grill as the menu was very similar. We found the staff to be lovely, very friendly and were always there when you needed them. Good music in the background and a nice atmosphere except for the drunken hen party in the bar. They were only a few feet away from where we were eating but at least they gave us a laugh!
We visited in a group of six and we all found our food to be really tasty and well cooked. We had a mix of everything from Thai Green Curry to Sausage & Mash. I always find the drinks to be a little expensive in Zinc but it's probably no different to any restaurant/bar of the same ilk. The overall bill was expensive at £60 a couple as we only had two courses each and we didn't order bottles of wine" - Clare, Ashton-under-Lyne 27/3/08 (visited on a Sat evening) |
