Bacchanalia
Restaurant Manchester - reader comments |
| "We
were drawn in to Bacchanalia by the Early Evening Menu (2
courses for £11.95) and the buzz coming from the cocktail
bar downstairs. The restaurant was simple yet elegant
and it's so nice to see attention to detail with the way they
had dressed the tables. We decided to order off the evening
menu as there were a couple of dishes on there that we couldn't
ignore. For my friend it was the Black Pudding Stilton &
Apple Tart (£3.95), followed by the Seabass (£10.95).
For me it was the special offer. I didn't know you could make
Sardines on Toast look so elegant! The Lamb Rump was of amazing
quality and cooked to perfection! A perfect medium. It came
with roast garlic and spring onion mash with soft herbs, exotic
mushrooms (so full of flavour), a red onion jam and red wine
jus. The balance of flavours was just right and so were the
portion sizes. All the food was simple but excecuted with
finesse. Higher end food at mid-end prices. The
very friendly, attentive and efficient waiter seemed to have
this knack of showing up at exactly the right moment. A random
tea after work led to me finding my new favourite haunt! I
recommend everyone else does the same"

| "The
menu at Bacchanalia was small but all the dishes were well
presented, tasted excellent and were good value for
money. The wines and beers are also good. The restaurant
is suitable for all different ages as long as Granny can still
manage stairs. I would definitely go there again."

| "We
were looking for a pre-concert meal prior to attending a concert
at the M.E.N. arena and noticed that all the eating venues
near to the arena were very busy with folk queing outside,
so we ventured slightly away from the main area and found
Bacchanalia by chance and there was no queue. We were greeted
by a very friendly and helpful waitress. The menu
had a lot to choose from. The ambience was good and
the surroundings pleasant. The food portions were just
about right, made from quality ingredients and
averagely priced on a par with other good quality restaurants.
The wine list was good and again averagely priced.
We could see into the open kitchen from our table, I always
like this as it shows that there is nothing to hide. Overall,
a very pleasant place to enjoy an evening meal. I would
definitely recommend Bacchanalia to anyone. We will be back
in Manchester soon for another concert and will most likely
be having our meal there again."

| "Although
the restaraunt at Bacchanalia was very quiet for a Saturday
night, the waitress was friendly and helpful and the
food was superb. I can't understand why they were not
queing at the door to get in. Very enjoyable."

"It's
amazing how many excellent restaurants there are on this tiny
street. And it was because the likes of Chaophraya, Le Petit
Blanc and Sam's Chop House were all full we ventured into
Bacchanalia by default. I was so glad we did! I have to say,
the Lamb Rack, given a Mediterranean twist with its honey
and sultana crust, was the best dish I've ever had in a
Manchester restaurant - an incredible statement as I've
ate in all the celebrated ones like The French, The Lowry,
Choice, Chaophraya, Piccolino's, Yang Sing and Akbar's. I
really wish I'd visited here for food before - I've been many
times for cocktails but just presumed the menu was of bar
food quality. How wrong was I. Very highly recommended!"
